iMinds The Conference is a showcase of innovative digital technologies, exciting research, and promising start-ups held annually in Brussel’s modern SQUARE meeting center. For the 2013 edition, Atra Media transformed a giant 8m x 3m rear-projection screen into an interactive canvas that invited guests to play with the theme of ideas.

The client’s design team created a series of colorful screens around the concept of the light bulb as a symbol for ideas and innovation. The hot wires of the bulbs were formed in the shape of iMinds’ market segment icons: health, energy, media, manufacturing, smart cities, and ICT. In the first application, the bulbs lit up as visitors passed in front of the screen, and the tagline read: “What if… you could take a brilliant idea home with you today?”, with “What if…” being the central theme of the conference.

The second screen featured our Attract app with magnets and the tagline, “What if iMinds can make your ideas stick?”. The more you moved your hands, the more light bulbs you attracted. Finally, a third screen invited visitors to “catch brilliant ideas” in the shape of bulbs falling from tree branches like leaves, which could then be scooped up from the ground.
